Divine Power: Strength Beyond Our Own

Divine Power: Strength Beyond Our Own

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses... (Acts 1:8)

Introduction
In a world obsessed with influence, wealth, and physical might, God offers a different kind of power—one that raises the dead, transforms hearts, and changes history. This isn't power *over* others but power *through* Christ to fulfill His purposes. The same resurrection power that brought Jesus from the grave now lives in every believer (Ephesians 1:19-20).

1. The Source of True Power
- God's Power > Human Strength: "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit" (Zechariah 4:6)
- Jesus' Example: He ministered in the Spirit's power (Acts 10:38), not His own ability
- Key Truth: Our weakness is the platform for His power (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Reflection: Where have you been relying on self-effort instead of the Spirit's power?

2. Power for a Purpose
- To Witness Boldly: The Spirit empowers us to share Christ (Acts 4:31)
- To Overcome Sin: "Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the flesh" (Galatians 5:16)
- To Serve Others: Spiritual gifts are power tools for building up the church (1 Corinthians 12:7)

Warning: Power without love corrupts (1 Corinthians 13:1-2)

3. Accessing God's Power Daily
1. Prayer: The early church prayed and "the place was shaken" (Acts 4:31)
2. God's Word: "Sharper than any double-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12)
3. Obedience: Power flows where we yield to God (James 4:7)

The Ultimate Power Display
The cross looked like defeat but was God's greatest victory—over sin, Satan, and death (Colossians 2:15). Now we walk in that triumph!

Closing Prayer:
"Father, forgive me for chasing counterfeit power. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit today. Where I feel weak, remind me that Christ's power rests on me. Use me as Your instrument to bring light to darkness, in Jesus' name. Amen."

Memory Verse:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."* (Philippians 4:13 NKJV)

Final Thought:
You aren't called to *muster* power but to *minister* the power Christ has already given you. Walk in it today!
